Sumac (Sumach, Sumaq)
Sumac (Sumach, Sumaq) provides a tart and sour flavour. It is often sprinkled on salads, hot or cold sandwiches and savoury dishes. Sumac is very popular in middle eastern cuisine and turkish foods where the popular donner kebab is known to be seasoned. It is often sprinkled over rice giving a wonderful colour as well as flavour to rice and couscous.
