Gits Khaman Dhokla Mix [Savoury Garbanzo Cake Dry Mix]
A popular snack of western Indian states of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan made from chick peas flour.
- Step1: mix oil and water
- Step2: pour and steam
- Step3: garnish
Ingredients: chick peas flour, semolina [wheat] flour, sugar powder, salt, raising agents [citric acid and sodium bicarbonate], asafoetida, turmeric, sodium acetate.
- blend 30ml oil and 235ml water, pour into dhokla mix gradually, blend very gently with minimum stirring until batter is smooth.
- pour batter into 2 baking trays greased with oil, steam on high flame for 15mins, remove and allow to cool for 10mins then cut into 5cm cubes.
- heat 30ml oil and add half tsp mustard seeds, when crackling starts add pinch of asafoetida and 1 tbsp sesame seeds, then put off gas.
- spread evenly over dhokla, sprinkle 2tbsp each of grated coconut and chopped coriander - serve with chutney.
